​In Zimbabwe, RYO develops individuals, families and communities that are capable of reaching for their own dreams despite obstacles brought about by raised poverty rates of more than 72%, HIV and AIDS which has a 14.7% HIV prevalence rate among the 15 to 49 age group and 1.4million total number of people living with HIV. Of the 1.4million, 790 000 are women and 77 000 are children aged 0 to 14. There are 450 000 orphans aged 0 to 17 due to AIDs. Substance abuse is also on the rise especially among the idle youths. Poverty, substance abuse, HIV and AIDS present serious obstacles for RYO`s target communities and beneficiaries, including very high unemployment which is currently at 95%, extreme vulnerability due to orphanhood, and lack of access to opportunities for those in affected populations.
